Our friends, James and Andrea Wood, stayed with us for the last 3 days while coming through Portland, on their way to Cali, on their way to Ireland. Andrea is a friend of mine who also worked at Cascade College before its closing. They brought their dog, Rizzo. She is a 5 year old "dumpster mutt" who they literally found in a dumpster at about 8 weeks old, as they were getting into their car to head to the Humane Society to get a puppy. Crazy coincidence. So, they nursed her back to health and she is their best bud now. We were fortunate to have Rizzo in the house this week to teach Finn some manners. Rizzo was very patient with Finn's antics, but she put him in his place when he needed it. Finn has played pretty wildly with other dogs and puppies since we brought him home (and the first dogs he was socialized with were over 100 lbs.), so he has some bad habits when it comes to playing. Granted, he is a puppy and he has to learn. Besides, he is pretty tame for a puppy and we are so happy that he is not fearful of other dogs! Here is a video of the two of them playing: Finn and Rizzo
I wish I would have timed my recording more accurately...there were some more entertaining moments:) Finn would start jumping in Rizzo's face and she would pin Finn on the ground and hold him there for a few seconds. It was great. She won every time but he wouldn't leave her alone. If we would have let him, he could have tormented her all day.
We had a lovely visit with the Woods and we were glad to be able to catch up with them. They will be heading to California in a few days to start their training on how to teach refugees in Europe to enhance their English-speaking skills. They plan to head overseas in January (God willing), so please keep them in your prayers!
